Town Hall Gallery is proud to present a major survey exhibition for David Rosetzky, gathering works from the last 25 years of the Melbourne-based contemporary artist’s career.
‘Plural Selves’ will feature some of Rosetzky’s most memorable works across the gallery rooms presented alongside a new series commissioned by Town Hall Gallery, which the artist created collaboratively with the LGBTQIA+ community.
Rosetzky continues his career-long exploration of diversity and human identity in Plural Selves. His work investigates how individuals see themselves in relation to others, often through intimate, collaborative portraits of queer and marginal identities.
For Plural Selves, Rosetzky has drawn upon his personal ties to the Boroondara area in Melbourne’s inner-East, which includes Hawthorn, Camberwell and Kew. His intimate familiarity with these places goes back to his childhood in the 1970s to 1990s.
By locating this series and his queer identity in the cultural context of his past, Rosetzky marks a significant new chapter with this major exhibition, including a new series commissioned by Town Hall Gallery engaging with the LGBTQIA+ community in the location.
