Peter Farnan, guitarist and founder of Boom Crash Opera, brings to life his quixotic and poignant new album ‘Home’ at The Workers Club in Fitzroy, Melbourne on Friday March 17, 2023 – direct from a season at the prestigious Adelaide Fringe Festival. 'Home' offers songs about the collapse of capitalism that crash into songs of longing, sex, religion and even a jolly singalong about death (singalong optional).
“I love pop; ‘pop’ in its purest sense - a tight form that strives to communicate, meaningfully, with infectious energy and imagination. I want to set off catchy little truth bombs.” Prior to releasing ‘Home’, Peter's previous solo outing - 'Pesky Bones Volume 1' - saw him feature many of Australia's music royalty including Deborah Conway, Paul Kelly, Tim Rogers, Ali Barter, Rebecca Barnard and Paul Capsis.
Peter first came to prominence in 1980 as singer/guitarist and co-founder of post-punk outfit Serious Young Insects - part of the St. Kilda underground scene that spawned The Models, The Birthday Party, and Hunters and Collectors - and lead to working with The Cure, XTC, Magazine and more.
Referencing his pioneering and continuing work with Boom Crash Opera (touring Australia in 2023), Pete is fully embracing being "that guy from that band". Supporting Peter Farnan are Julian Smith (pop/rock/electronic), and Palliative (dark synthpop) - both from Melbourne.
