This November as part of Melbourne Music week, Hear Them Holler present HYPNOTISED.
Curating a night of dream-pop psychedelia, with some of Melbourne’s greatest folk-pop dreamers.
Headlining the night will be acclaimed freak-folk band Husky, with supports by Melbourne folk-revivalist Leah Senior and the dream-pop neo-psychedelia project of multi-instrumentalist Nick Sowersby - Sunbeam Sound Machine.
Husky’s melodic freak-folk has strong ties to artists such as Jonathan Wilson and War on Drugs, as well as Devendra Banhart and Pink Floyd. The literature loving quartet have clocked up over 6 million streams on Spotify and are currently writing their fourth studio album, and will be releasing new work in early 2019.
Leah Senior, Melbourne’s folk spiritualist, signed to King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard’s Flightless Records, has been hailed the embodiment of Nick Drake and Joni Mitchell, with her tough fragility and engaging live performance, she has played Meredith Music Festival and been nominated for the Australian Music Prize as well as Best Folk and Roots Album for the Age Victoria Music Awards for her debut release. She is currently working on her third release.
To kick off the night, multi-instrumentalist Nick Sowersby heads up Sunbeam Sound Machine, an ambient dreampop outfit with the perfect balance of shoe-gaze and spacey psych-pop stylings.
To compliment the evenings mass-dream fest, the astounding antics of lighting design and creative agency John Fish will be unleashed in full force upon Max Watts. With a reputation for mind-blowing visuals, they will convert Max Watts into an intergalactic cosmos of dreamscapes and transcendent reverie.
RRR’s very own producer and presenter of The International Pop Underground, DJ Anthony Carew will spin tunes through the night, extracting the pretty and profound.
