Clunes Booktown Festival, one of Australia’s best-loved regional literary events, returns in 2024 with a stellar line-up of authors and musicians joining a huge open-air book fair on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th of March.
The historic hamlet of Clunes, 36km north of Ballarat, will transform into a booklovers’ paradise, with author panels debating the ethics of crime writing, the role of booze in Australian culture, how to write books that matter for young audiences, and whether journalism is serving our democracy.
Festival entry will be free for the first time, with open access to the iconic outdoor book bazaar of new, second-hand and rare volumes, free music in the park, and family activities.
The program features a diverse and esteemed voices, including: Helen Garner, Tony Birch, Sofie Laguna, Alice Pung, Maxine Beneba Clarke, Toni Jordan, Jacinta Parsons, and many more.
