LETS ASSEMBLE AND DANCE IN THE JUNGLE

Explore, participate and celebrate dance as a creative tool for liberation, resistance and cultural continuity. The Assemble Community Dance event, as part of the 2026 FUSE Festival is an opportunity for people from diverse background to gather, connect and be inspired by both traditional and progressive forms of movement.

As part of the days activities, you can take part in both cultural and street dance workshops including Dabke, Belly Dance, Krump, Dancehall, and Capoeira Angola delivered by local dancers including Jafra Dabke, Laila Shouha, Mind Over Mutant, Kitty Cat and interstate guest Treinel Aranha.

These workshops will explore not just how to dance in these styles but how these dances have been used as a form of liberation for oppressed communities around the world.

Together we will celebrate the power of dance as a form of resistance and as a universal language that connects people from all backgrounds through rhythm and movement. After the workshops there will be a panel discussion to explore dance as liberation and its effectiveness in preserving stories and cultural continuity over time and geography.

The Assemble dance event is FREE but bookings are essential as capacity is limited so register early to avoid missing out.
