Australia’s beloved annual premier queer festival is back!
Get involved in an explosion of diverse events that will push boundaries and minds centring around hidden and mainstream queer culture. Featuring local, interstate, and international artists, you’re sure to find something that inspires this January and February across a range of free and ticketed events.
Fountain is a new orchestral arrangement of Max Lawrence’s music, performed with Forest Collective. A company with an increasingly large following, First Collective explore an urgency for fluidity in our interactions with ourselves and environment. Naarm-based musician Max Lawrence blends electronic textures and jazz sensibility with larger-than-life art pop song writing.
As a queer, non-binary artist, Lawrence’s genre-fluid approach champions multiplicity, creating music as a means of catharsis and inquisition. Inspired by the work of artists including Bjork, Moses Sumney and James Blake, Lawrence creates sonic and visual landscapes that blur the line between intimacy and fantasy.
Forest Collective is an artist collective focusing on contemporary classical music, dance and collaboration. Under the direction of composer and conductor Evan J Lawson, Forest Collective strive to enrich audiences through multidisciplinary, innovative, collaborative, experimental, and traditional art forms from early career and established artists. Following their intricate and expressive 2020 performance of ‘Chlorophyll’, Max Lawrence and Forest Collective join forces again.
