3RRR Employment Opportunity: Breakfasters Producer

Position Details

2.5 days per week, 12-month parental leave vacancy.

$41,000 pro-rata 0.5. commencing w/c 19/03/12

General Description:

The Breakfasters Producer is responsible for coordinating all Breakfast interviews and segments, and providing support to and liaising with the Breakfasters, segment presents, guests, and volunteer broadcasters on radio and online content. There is a particular focus on coordinating festival coverage and maintaining relationships with various arts, cultural and community organisations across Melbourne.

The position works closely with the Talks Producer and supports the Program Manager in a range of capacities as required. There are a number of other additional administrative duties including, but not limited to, overseeing Triple R’s podcasts, general broadcaster support, studio management, some volunteer supervision, website maintenance, co-ordination of special programming projects, and assistance with outside broadcasts and Triple R events outside of regular working hours.

  • Breakfasters Interview & Segment idea generation, research, booking and production
  • Overseeing Triple R Podcasts
  • Web Maintenance
  • Events and Outside Broadcasts
  • Provide support to the Program Manager and Talks Producer
  • Internal Meetings and Reporting
  • General requirements as an employee of Triple R Broadcasters Ltd.
  • Must be well-versed in news and current affairs issues

Selection Criteria:

Essential

  • Experience in radio production or journalism demonstrating strong editorial judgment
  • A thorough understanding of broadcast regulations, community radio and the codes of practice, and Triple R in particular
  • A strong knowledge of and interest in a range of social and cultural issues and an affinity with Triple R values
  • Establised networks and contacts with a range of arts, cultural and community organisations
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
  • Computer literacy including online content and web maintenance skills, with an awareness of the impact of new media on the broadcasting landscape
  • A strong understanding of the Breakfasters program

Desirable

  • Radio broadcasting experience
  • Experience within the community broadcasting sector
  • Experience working with volunteers
  • A strong knowledge and appreciation of independent music
  • Appropriate educational qualifications
