Right now, Pakistan is experiencing its worst floods in living memory.
More than 14 million people including six million children urgently need humanitarian aid. Clean drinking water and sanitation are essential to stop the spread of dysentery and cholera. UNICEF is already on the ground providing food, clean water, medicine and supplies, but more help is desperately needed.

The Readings Foundation was established in 2009 to increase and formalise our ongoing commitment to support the community.
The Readings Foundation supports Victorian individuals and organisations that wish to further the development of Literacy, Community work and the Arts.
This is a wonderful opportunity for individuals and arts organisations with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status to be able to bring their creative or literacy-related projects to life that otherwise would never have had the funds. Readings donates 2% of its overall profit to the Foundation each year.
Applications are open NOW and must be lodged by 5pm on Friday 29 October 2010. Final decisions about projects will be made by the Board of Trustees by Tuesday 30 November 2010.
Application forms and guidelines can be downloaded from www.readings.com.au/the-readings-foundation

Saturday 11th September @ Deutsche Schule Melbourne
On September 11, 2010 from 10am to 4pm the parents and friends of the Deutsche Schule Melbourne invite you to join us at our 3rd annual Oktober Fete.
The day celebrates not only German cultural traditions, but also the pride in what this new school has achieved in the short time since its opening in 2008.
The bilingual Primary School can be found in the red brick buildings at 96 Barkly Street, North Fitzroy (previously St Joseph’s college) and the school prides itself on providing the opportunity for children to live and learn two cultures.
Everyone is welcome and the „Silver Echos“ band and Folk dancers will provide the fitting atmosphere for visitors to sample traditional German Bratwurst, soup, pretzels, coffee and cake and of course: German beer!.
The animal farm, treasure hunt, fairy floss, a box maze and bouncing castle will keep the kids in action.
The „Lucky Dip Bottle“ stall, the Silent Auction and Raffle promise great prizes.
For children and adults alike the plate smashing stall will give an unusual opportunity to practice their throwing skills: in German tradition, the shards are thought to bring good luck!
