How did you first connect with Triple R?
I always listened to the RRR during Uni days where we would spend weeks on end slaving over the drawing board. (Yes, pre-computers).
What/when was your first show?
I harassed Steve Grimwade and Alicia Sometimes, who are old friends of mine, about why a radio station with such rich coverage of the culture of Melbourne had no mention of Architecture. They eventually agreed to have Stuart and me on to do a short segment on a summer fill they were doing. This led to a regular bi-weekly spot and eventually our own show.
What's your favourite Triple R story?
Tracee Hutchison gave us a 20-30min ‘lesson' on how to use the mixing desk the week before our first show. We were under the mistaken impression that there would be others around the station when we arrived there 20mins before we were due to start. There was a fair degree of panic as we quickly realised that we were going to have to do it all ourselves as the station was pretty much locked up except for Bec Hornsby who was finishing her show. We made it through with only a few moments of dead-air but if you listen to any of those early shows they are pretty average and to this day we have managed to make dead-air a regular feature of the show.
Your favourite other Triple R program and why?
Wig Wam Bam - because I love the music Woody plays.
What does Triple R mean to you?
Everything that is good about Melbourne.
The studio door has accidentally jammed shut with you stuck inside. If there was only one CD in there with you what would you want it to be and why?
Musically: Beastie Boys - Ill Communication because no one could ever get sick of it.
Architecturally: The Aural History of Modern Architecture - some of the greatest minds in the history of the profession
What aspects of life do you find most perplexing:
Whether to put a B&W striped top into the white wash or the coloured wash.
