How did you first connect with Triple R?
My involvement with the show dates back to 1981 when I guested with John Flaus who created the program. Gradually we formed a team and from 1991 I hosted the show on a solo basis.
What's your favourite Triple R story?
One night at the Fitzroy building I had great difficulty opening the door to the office to gain admittance. Unbeknownst to me someone was simultaneously trying to open the door at the same time from the other side. I took my hand away from the door and out came the towering and forbidding figure of former Prime Malcolm Fraser!
Your favourite other Triple R program and why?
I tend to listen in blocks , I particularly enjoy all the Sunday morning shows and mid-week programs when I have the opportunity . But my fave is Headley Gritter's Party Show which defies easy categorization and is totally unique in its mix of erudition and general ratbaggery .
What does Triple R mean to you?
Triple R is my third hand, embedded in my DNA and a part of my life now for several decades as both a listener and presenter. RRR plays an important role in helping to define Melbourne as a great city to live, work and play in. How's that for a motherhood statement?
The studio door has accidentally jammed shut with you stuck inside. If there was only one CD in there with you what would you want it to be and why?
Anything by Stevie Wonder would lift my spirits stuck inside just about anywhere I could think of and if I was on air with just one CD to play I can't think of many individual artists whose musical trajectories encompass such a wide range of styles.
