I was asked to do a fill in by Jimi Baeck who ran the show. He'd been presenting the show since RRR began and needed some time off. We began alternating Mondays and when Jimi left to head overseas, I continued on my own...
What/when was your first show?
Chicken Mary was my first show and I started in October 1988...
What's your favourite Triple R story?
I was doing a fill in for "Son of Crawdaddy" and was reading the gig guide at the end of the shift. I had my old dog Toni in the studio with me. The presenter of the next shift had arrived and the dog caught sight of them through the glass window and began barking and howling, just as I was announcing "Howlin' Time" playing at the Corner Hotel
Your favourite other Triple R program and why?
I used to LOVE the Galactic Zoo. I never miss Biggsy on Friday mornings, I love "Off the Record " and listen to most of the music shows, Max Crawdaddy and Johnny Topper, my faves !!
What does Triple R mean to you?
It means no nasty commercials or commercial sounding voices and GREAT music. There is no playlist and presenters produce their own shows. For me it means I get to play whatever music I want, interview who I like and have fun doing it...
The studio door has accidentally jammed shut with you stuck inside. If there was only one CD in there with you what would you want it to be and why?
I would want a box set of R&B, soul, blues, rock ‘n' roll and country. I'd load the cd players up with it, then work out how the hell I'm going to unlock the studio door ! !
