Presents Hellzapoppin’
How did you first connect with Triple R?
I developed a real love and appreciation for community radio while I was still living in Sydney, but never quite mustered the courage to volunteer. When I moved to Melbourne I met Nikki Faigen and she facilitated my first volunteering experience at Triple R – answering phones during Radiothon. From there I progressed to folding envelopes, and the rest is history!
What/when was your first show?
A whole lot of Graveyards, Max Headrooms and Fills prepared me for my first show – Hellzapoppin’, Kicking off January 2011.
What's your favourite Triple R story?
Interviewing Miriam Linna and Billy Miller from Norton Records has been a highlight. They popped my interview cherry!
Your favourite other Triple R program and why?
The thing I love about Triple R is how varied the grid is. But some of my favourites are The Breakfasters, Spoke, Wax Lyrical, All Over The Shop, Off The Record, Film Buff's Forecast and Twang.
What does Triple R mean to you?
Above all else, community. Triple R is just the best, providing an alternative to commercial media, offering a voice to all sorts of opinions and musical tastes and all the while fostering a sense of community. Qualities that are all too rare these days.
The studio door has accidentally jammed shut with you stuck inside. If there was only one CD in there with you what would you want it to be and why?
What a question! Maybe the whole of Lux and Ivy's favorites burnt to CD as data. Does that count? Failing that, The Contender by Royal Crown Revue, or the Heavy Sugar compilation which I’ve been digging lately.
