Presents The Architects

How did you first connect with Triple R?

Without a doubt it was through listening to Kate Bathgate’s ‘Transmission’ show many years ago.  She was a great DJ and her show was probably one of the first techno radio shows on air in Australia.

Kate inspired me to start my own vinyl collection (which hasn’t stopped) and to later host my own electronic music show, first on SRA and then on PBS.  She had a great radio voice; I used to love the way she said, “Going off on the r’s” and “got 2 passes to hardware 3.........passes gone”.  I used to listen to the show by the phone every week for her great party giveaways and taped it (if only I still had these) so I could re-listen to it on my way to the gigs.

What/when was your first show?

My first show on RRR was in February 2009 on ‘The Architects’.  It was an honor joining Stuart and Knotty who had already put the hard yard in and developed the show (along with Rory) to what it is today.  I am a big believer in bringing architecture to the public that is very much the spirit of the show so I was chuffed when they asked me to join the team.

What's your favourite Triple R story?

Without going into details, Cup Day was quite a challenge behind the scenes.

Your favourite other Triple R program and why?

Declan Kelly’s ‘Against the Arctic’ is right up my alley, a great eclectic mix of awesome music.

What does Triple R mean to you?

RRR means Melbourne to me.  Born and bred here so I grew up with RRR.

The studio door has accidentally jammed shut with you stuck inside. If there was only one CD in there with you what would you want it to be and why?

Carl Weismann and Allen Keast’s ‘Australian Bird Songs’ - in case a bout of claustrophobia kicks in.  My favourite tracks are the Laughing Kookaburra and Willy Wagtail.
