Keeping Warm in Winter

28th Jun 10

The theme of today's show was 'ways to keep warm in winter'.

First up we warded of frostbite by talking to Annie Bienik about laughter. Annie volunteers at the Hampton Beach Laughing Club where she guides people through hyena, lion and monkey laughter exercises, as well as a bit or regular human laughter and coughing to get the diaphragm working and the endorphins flowing.

We moved on to Michael Houghton from Bikram Yoga Fitzroy to learn about hot yoga. Michael told us about the 40/40 optimum climate for hot yoga (40 degrees and 40 per cent humidity). The idea is to sweat out toxins, heat up your muscles and relax the mind with 26 different yoga poses in a tropical-like environment. Michael likened the class temperature to walking into the wall of heat when he walked out of the Fiji airport in the hot season. No winter woes here.

Our presenters James and Chris next discussed the screening they attended at the Melbourne International Animation Festival on Saturday night. The insulation of a cinema coupled with the delights of animated creativity kept our presenters toasty in this late June weather.

If you would like to re-live the warmth you can listen to the show again.

2.Leilani by Hoodoo Gurus
