Arrived at the station with a dirty big pimple on my face from overindulging in rich food over the weekend. Dave complained that he and Clare both had "mild colds". (No comment, pal!!) Van Walker was our special guest - he also complained of flu-like symptoms. His complexion, however, was blemish free. He smoked a bunch of cigarettes before coming on air. Oh you lucky, lucky man, I thought enviously. It's been ten months since I gave up and I regularly long to chow down on a pack of big tobacco's finest. Siiiiigh.
So Van Walker has put out four albums in just over a year. Intense! My favourite is Greetings From Penguin, Tasmania. You have to buy this album, it's somethin' else. Van works with his brother Cal and regaled us with stories of their adorably bloody bust-ups. So many brothers in bands thrive on punching the guts out of each other. Sisters? We just scream.
