GUESTS:
Psychologist and educator, Dr Sam Ginsberg, tied in our discussion this month with the Winter Olympics - and talked about the role sport plays in society. We looked at how sport and sporting figures can be a vehicle for social change and how the pressures of on-field expectations can lead to off-field indiscretions. Callers shared their views of the benefits of sport and how they keep their passion in perspective.

Having grown up in multi-lingual home, I'm a big supporter of the benefits of learning a second language. AlphaTykes education centres offer the opportunity for children (aged 18 months to primary school age) to learn French, Spanish or Italian. Vocabulary is taught through music, craft and games and parents can also get in on the fun and games. Sandra Cottam from Alpha Tykes joined us to discuss how languages can open up a whole new world for youngsters.

The long weekend of the 5th - 8th March is chockful of great musical events - and "Blues Before Sunrise" is no exception. Dancers Noni Clarke and Josh McKiterick gave us the lowdown on the recent explosion of dance classes sweeping across Melbourne and how anyone can learn to dance! So for four nights, throw on your dancing shoes and indulge in swing, blues and lindy hop workshops, while getting down to bands and DJs delivering fabulous sounds for your swingin' pleasure.

On "Food For Thought" this month, we were joined by dancer/singer/performer, Parvyn Singh, who recently got back from an artistic pilgrimage to India. She shared her thoughts on the challenges facing Melbourne's Indian community and what she found to be international attitudes and perceptions towards Australians. During our discussion, I sampled some of Parvyn's delicious aloo prante. The verdict: YUM!!!
