Dr Lucas Walsh from the Foundation for Young Australians (FYA) joined us for an interesting discussion about the findings of "The Impact of Racism Upon the Health & Well Being of Young Australians" report. The study was conducted through FYA and Deakin University. Interestingly, racism was found to be inter-cultural, was experienced by anglo-Australians and didn't just lead to negative feelings - but also led to made young people "stronger". It's a universal given that parenting is one of the toughest jobs of all! Michael Grose - parenting author, columnist and founder of the Parenting Ideas website shared with us his advice, observations and guidance on rearing little ones. Just some of the things discussed included the specific needs of boys, setting clear boundaries that you are your child's parent - not friend; sibling rivalry and how birth order can be a powerful indicator of your children's future potential. Artist Georgie Roxby-Smith discussed her latest installation at Trocadero Art Space. "Forever Michael: The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" combines the physical and virtual worlds of Michael Jackson, taking us through the hundreds of Second Life tributes to Jackson and makes a commentary on the crucifixion of the man during his life - and now, his death.
