UNEEK magazine claims itself to be the first multicultural women's for all Australian women, presenting a range of issues with a refreshingly diverse take. Founder and Managing Director, Shena Pinto, discussed her frustration at arriving in Australia and only seeing a mono cultural representation of women (or celebrities) in magazines. So, she decided to set up UNEEK to showcase the achievements and stories of multicultural communities. I picked up my copy at Readings (Carlton), but you can log onto the UNEEK website to grab a copy near you:

Monash Gallery of Art have kicked off 2010 in a Pasifika stylee with three Pacific-focused exhibition. Curator Stephen Zagala discussed the importance of the various photographic exhibits being on display in Australian galleries; and the importance of creating awareness about the diversity of Islander culture. This Saturday, John Lewis (a founder of Greenpeace Australia) will be giving an artist talk about his exhibition, "Kiribati: Putting a Face to Climate Change". Get along and gain an insight into the story of our neighbours.
