Theatre director, Sue Lindsay, joined us to talk about the Melbourne adaptation of Nigerian playwright, Wole Soyinka's, play - "Death and the King's Horseman". The play features a predominantly African-Australian cast and is being performed for the first time in Melbourne. It highlights challenging aspects of British colonialism versus Nigerian Yoroba culture and explores related themes, including death.
The cast includes Nigerian actors and members of the HOPE Sudanese theatre group - check it out!

Karen Taylor from "Somebody's Daughter" theatre company chatted to us about this intriguing community arts organisation that works with disadvantaged youth, women in prison and continues working with them after their release. She discusses the importance of theatre and creativity and how they instil a sense of worth and connection in individual lives. Workshops and productions take place in prisons and through various outreach programs.
