Busy show tonight with two guests. First up Sam and Ronald from Drama For Yamaha joined me to chat about their amazing new record Archipelago and their launch party this Thursday 30th July (tonight!) @ Pony (see post below). The launch is a world music themed dance party with Muhanamwe playing live and support from Brothersister DJ's and dj kreme extreme dream scream. Promises to be a great night from one of the most exciting local labels. Their enthusiasm, DIY aesthetic and artist run sensibilities are typical of what makes the Australian indie music movement so exciting at the moment. Around 9:15 I got chatting with Dave Norris aka Dizz1 who's had a long and colourful involvement in the Australian music scene. Formerly a drummer with Nubreed and Wicked Beat Sound System, Dizz is also a scratch master, having collaborated as a DJ with Dexter and Kuya as Shook Daily and more recently with Dexter as Curse The Machines. During his time as a participant at Red Bull Music Academy in Barcelona 2008, Dizz collaborated with Om'Mas Keith of Sa-Ra Creative Partners for the track We Go Riding which was featured on the Various Assets Not For Sale compilation from RBMA Barcelona 2008. They're now working on an album due for release late this year or early next year. His killer track Konotakosuke Yaro is one of the strongest jams featured on Beat Dimensions 2, the second instalment of Cinnaman and Jay Scarlett's ground breaking compilation for Rushhour Records.
Dizz's track Here We Go Again and the two Harmonic 313 tracks are unreleased and have been removed removed to prevent leaks before release. Tune in live to hear these exclusives!
