Founded by London DJ and electronic producer Steve Goodman (Kode9), Hyperdub records is a leading label of the dubstep and post-dubstep movement. Over its five year history, Hyperdub has introduced some of the most influential artists associated with experimental urban UK music, including Zomby, Burial, and King Midas Sound, and showcased forward-thinking hip-hop and techno variations from international artists such as Flying Lotus, Samiyam and Rustie. Hyperdub 5 is a double-CD compilation featuring new material from the label roster as well as highlights from the impressive back-catalogue, presenting a fascinating survey of hybridised hip hop, dub, techno, and electronic sounds.

Throughout the album a strong reverence and appreciation for noisy shoegaze and 90s indie-rock clearly emerges, although the end result, with its sonic echos from the last decade, is much greater than the sum of its influences.
